tiny Somerset village of Batcombe. Henderson is a chef originally from New
Zealand.
You can taste Somerset in every mouthful of
food here, whether it's the wild garlic that grows along the local roads or the
cheese from Westcombe Dairy, which is only a ten-minute walk away.
There's bracingly fresh food here, so summer
dishes like courgette with lentils sheep's curd, and autumnal rabbit pie are to

6.Gravetye Manor

Downtown Abbey than a Michelin-star meal as you pull up to Gravetye Manor on
the broad gravel path, yet this gorgeous Sussex bolthole does both.
The restaurant, which uses fresh produce from
the walled kitchen garden and local producers to create super seasonal menus
that feature everything from venison with cep and duck with spiced marmalade to
scallop with mackerel and preserved gooseberry, is as stunning as the hotel,
which dates back to the 16th century and has historic gardens.
Although this isn't a tasting menu per se,
the three-course, £125 set meal has enough unexpected nibbles and sweets to
give the impression that it is. Don't miss their renowned soufflé dessert,
which tastes like raspberry crumble and is served with a rich licorice ice

connection with over the years.

barley, and anchovy garum sauce—all made with the freshest local produce of the

The crew behind the never-so-bustling Notting
Hill gastropub The Pelican took a vacation to The Cotswolds in late 2023 and
renovated this quaint, circa 1500s pub.

menu is updated every day. They have access to a nearby farm for bracingly
fresh vegetables, which they serve raw and unadorned on a platter, and they
also have a trigger-happy hunter on hand for game dishes like muntjac meatballs
or partridge with cabbage and bacon. During our visit, we tried the delicious
trout (crudo) that a local fisherman dropped off on their doorstep a few days
prior.
They also enjoy crisp green tomatoes. Oozy
Lincolnshire Poacher cheese envelops leeks, and a substantial pork chop is
served over creamed chard.
Additionally, you can never be too close to a
raging fire to guarantee maximum coziness at all times.
12.Sur-Mer at The Suffolk
Aldeburgh, Suffolk
The Suffolk, a seaside resort in the somewhat
touristy coastal town of Aldeburgh, is known for its delicious snails for a
good reason.
George Pell, the man behind the
beach-ball-bouncing hotel and restaurant Sur-Mer, departed Soho's renowned
French dining place L'Escargot to start The Suffolk.
George is one of the people who is most aware

geda thick noodles.
Those plump mussels, surrounded by a tangle
of ginger, garlic, and chili, are a true tribute to Lea's ability and a
wonderful example of wok hei.
